Muhammad Moazzam
M.D. Candidate (2025)
Muhammad Talha Moazzam is a current Doctor of Medicine (MD) candidate at the UQ-Ochsner Medical School in Brisbane, Australia and New Orleans, Louisiana. He obtained both his B.A. in Psychology and M.S. in Medical Sciences at Boston University, after which he elected to pursue research ventures under institutions like the University of Connecticut, Yale University, and also his alma mater, BU. His research interests are at the budding interface between neuroscience, genetics and psychiatry, having investigated critical topics including neurodegenerative diseases, major depression and substance abuse.
Muhammad is the current Research Officer for both the UQ Radiology Interest Group and the Ochsner Medical Student Association, a major regulatory body for American students in UQ. He is incredibly passionate about creating and highlighting opportunities for his peers to improve their residency outcomes. Alongside his research in back pain, he investigated areas of improvement in trans-national medical school systems and as a result, started a mentorship program that connected Ochsner alumni in America to early phase students in Brisbane, bridging the gap between the two student bodies. With CAAMSA, he aspires to continue and escalate his mission to provide medical students with exceptional opportunities, research-related or otherwise, to bolster their narratives for residency.
